Whether you are preparing for the HiSET (formerly GED) exam, or simply improving your skills in reading, language and or math, Hillsboro Adult Education-Project Lift can help.

Project Lift offers free, confidential, one-to-one and small group instruction to adults in Hillsborough and surrounding towns who wish to improve their basic skills, learn English as a second language (ESL), or prepare for the high school equivalency exam (now called HiSET).

How It Works: Volunteers from the community are recruited, trained and matched with each student. The tutor and student work together to identify individual educational goals and to plan learning activities. Instruction occurs at the libraries in Antrim, Bennington, Peterborough, Hillsborough and the LIFT classroom at 29 School Street, Hillsborough or at another mutually agreed upon location. The tutoring schedule is designed to meet the needs of both the student and the tutor.

From the Coordinator:

The GED (general educational development) test, has been replaced with a different exam called the HiSET. The HiSET (High School Equivalency Testing) has the same credential as the former GED, it is the new high school equivanlency measure in the State of New Hampshire. The new test is offered in both computer and paper versions and is aligned to the state's new Common Core Standards. LIFT still offers instruction for Adult Basic Education for those students who do not need a high school equivalent but want to increase their reading, writing and math skills.
